Skippy was born in the Summer of 2008. Right before Hurricane Ike hit our area some young teenagers adopted Skippy from a breeder that needed to evacuate. As you can imagine young teenage girls were not really prepared for the responsibility of having a dog. They didn't understand what it would take to care for and train him. Unfortunately he spent way way too many hours in a crate and was possibly abused. (This can not be confirmed but we have suspisions based on his timid nature)
When these girls finally did the responsible thing and gave him up we took him and gave him to our Grandfather. His dog had just passed away and it seemed like a perfect match. The two hit it off and were best buddies from the first moment they saw each other.
Sadly, my Grandparents' house recently caught on fire and had major damage. They've had to live w/ a relative while their house was knocked down and a new one was built. Poor Skippy was traumatized during the fire and moving around and has found a Foster home with us again. My Grandparents have decided they can no longer care for Skippy b/c it will be so long before they are settled and due to their age they feel it would be best for Skippy to find a permanent loving home.
